Fallowfield Attractions Manchester is located in the heart of United Kingdom, and often referred to as the second town of the UK as the capital city of the North. It has become a major centre of higher education, commerce, arts and media. Today Manchester is considered one of the fastest growing economies in Great Britain. It is also the most visited city by foreign visitors in the United Kingdom. The Commonwealth Games of 2002 was conducted in Manchester. It is quite often referred to as the first industrial city. Manchester is a predominant international center for textile manufacture and cotton spinning, and played a crucial role throughout the Industrial Revolution. Fallowfield is a famous area within the city of Manchester in England. It lies approximately 3 miles south of the main city centre in Manchester, and is bisected east and west by the earlier Fallowfield Loop Railway line, and north south by Wilmslow Road. Fallowfield is the home to a large number of students. The main accommodation complex of the Manchester University lies in the centre of Fallowfield which also includes the university owned Owens Park famous hall of residence. Fallowfield is known for its excellent bus service alongside the Wilmslow Road. The Mauldeth Road Railway Station is also located on the Styal Line. The Fallowfield railway station was earlier located on the Wilmslow Road, and this has now been transformed into a public building. All the rest of the area is now occupied by the Sainsbury Super Market and a few blocks of residential flats. |
